Biser Petrov Georgiev

Born in Varna – Bulgaria, Biser Georgiev graduate at the State Musical Academy "Pantcho Vladigerov" - Sofia, Bulgaria, where he majored in vocal interpretation and opera singing. He studied in the class of Professor Irena Brambarova. His studies continued in the Master vocal courses of Gena Dimitrova, Aleksandrina Milcheva, Kaludi Kaludov and Nikola Giuzelev. Biser Georgiev has taken part in many vocal competitions, garnering the following prizes and awards: Ineternational Academy Competition "Pantcho Vladigerov"- second prize; Competition for young opera singers "Hristo Brambarov"- second prize; Competion "Maria Kraja", Tirana, Albania- second prize; International Vocal Competition- Rho, Italy- II prize. In addition to his operatic activity, he has given concert and performances in his native country Bulgaria and abroad: Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Norwey Greece, USA, Japan, 2002 as Esamilo – “Carmen” in Kazan, Russia, 2007 Lisbon - Portugal with Nabucco, Saragossa – Spain 2008, as well as numerous foreign tours until now. In October 2008 he performed in Brasov - Romania as Rodrigue at concert related to “Don Carlos” opera. He continued the season with performance of Aida in Alicante- Spain where he is giving an impersonation of the role of Amonasro. The same year he has appeared at Solothurn festival as Schaunard from “La Boheme”- G. Puccini and as Masetto from “Don Giovanni” – W.Mozart. Biser Georgiev’s Czech opera debut was in State Opera Prague as Scarpia (Tosca) in 2008. One year earlier the Washington post published: “The malevolent police chief Scarpia completes the tragic love triangle. The role is so rich with erotic smarm that a good Scarpia can easily steal the show, which is exactly what baritone Bisser Georgiev did. Singing the leading baritone parts in the operas his international repertoire includes: Macbeth - Macbeth, Rigoletto - Rigoletto, Scarpia - Tosca, Marcello – La Boheme, G. Germont - Traviata, Amonasro - Aida, Sharpless – Madama Butterfly, Escamillo - Carmen, Tonio - Pagliacci, Conte di Luna – Il Trovatore, Conte Almaviva - La nozze di Figaro, Rodrigue – Don Carlos, Ping - Turandot, Simone Boccanegra - Simone Boccanegra, Nabucco - Nabucco, The Dutchman - The Dutchman. He is performing at the Bulgarian opera theatres in Sofia, Russe, Bourgas, Stara Zagora in the roles of Rigoletto, Scarpia, Nabucco, Lescaut, Marcello, G.Germont, Amonasro, Macbeth, Escamillo, Rodrigue, Schaunard.
